Debola, it is sad that you left so soon . You were more than a cousin to me, and you were a friend. I will forever miss that beautiful smile and gentle character, and you were a fitness lover, fashionable, kind-hearted, caring, and loving, and I will never forget the time we spent together at your house at hospital road. Rest on in the bossom of our Lord. Good night, Debola. From ToyinTychus

My mind keeps drifting back to those sweltering Lagos afternoons while we were in the secondary school. The smell of chlorine, the sun beating down, and the pure, unadulterated joy of plunging into the swimming pool. We used to make the rounds of the Federal Palace, Airport, and Ikoyi Hotels. I remember all the splashing, diving, and flipping. I remember teaching you how to do a proper dive, which you eventually mastered. I remember your infectious smile, and the conversations over poolside snacks washed down with Coca-Cola, which, invariably, you funded. You never made me feel funny over your picking all the bills. I’ll forever cherish those memories. Goodbye, my dear friend, who was more like a kid brother to me. You’ll be deeply missed. This hurts! Kehinde Nubi - classmate

Debola If I could write a story it would be the greatest ever told, of a kind and loving person you are with a heart of gold. I could write a million pages but there is one thing I would say how much we love you and miss you. I still can not get over your passing because it is still a shock to me. Debola you are a firm foundation in your caring for others. A sturdy hand to hold onto in times of stress and strife. You will always remain in our heart. May your soul rest in peace. Greatness does not have to be the acquisition of wealth and power, but how impactful you are to people that come across you. It was always good vibes and positive energy with you, the coolest man with the ever bubbly personality. The news of your passing saddens us deeply, but joyous to know you’ve transitioned to a much better place. Rest on Uncle Debola. Forever in our hearts. Love from Tolu Akinsanya & Toyosi Obasanjo

Debla, it is hard for me to put into words what your sudden departure mean to me and it is even harder to capture the depth  of the loss. You were a true brother, a full support system and  confidant. Your demise on March 5th just threw me back to 30 years when our mum passed. Debla, we enjoyed together, raised ourselves up when needed, you made my life okay because you were part of it since 1962. You gave of yourself selflessly, in countless ways you showed me that the greatest gift we could offer each other was simply Love. How can I forget the ways and manner we make our lives rich, full and meaningful by being there for each other. Why was that cut short??? I mourn you Debla and wondered if I could or should have done anything different to save you. My heart bleeds now but promise you, I will forever cherish the memories we made together. Good night Debla. I pray we come back together in our after lives. Adieu.       Your Sis Bisi
